On May 7, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
At the beginning of the conversation, the Presidents of the two states exchanged the heartfelt congratulations and warm wishes on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the Victory over fascism.
It was emphasized that the great feat of the peoples of our countries, who had heroically fought side by side on the battlefields and selflessly served on the home front, will remain forever in the grateful memory of the descendants.
The topical issues of further strengthening the Uzbek-Russian strategic partnerships and alliance were discussed.
The rapid development of the multifaceted cooperation between our states during the challenging conditions of the coronavirus pandemic was noted with great appreciation.
The active contacts are continuing at all levels, with the involvement of the Russian high-profile companies and banks, major cooperation projects are being implemented in the main sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan. In April this year, Tashkent has successfully hosted the International Exhibition «INNOPROM», which was for the first time organized in such a large-scale format outside of Russia.
The need for joint adoption of additional measures to increase the volume of mutual trade was highlighted.
The parliamentary exchanges are increasing. The important educational, cultural and humanitarian programs are being implemented.
During the conversation, the Presidents exchanged views on the topical issues of the international agenda and regional cooperation, including in the framework of the CIS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union. A profound importance was attached to ensuring peace and stability in the region.
The schedule of forthcoming events was also reviewed. An agreement to continue the active preparation of the agenda of the planned meetings at the top-level was reached.
The telephone conversation was held in a traditionally warm, friendly and constructive atmosphere.
