Today, on April 30, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

The Presidents discussed the development of the situation on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border.

The President of Uzbekistan supported the agreements reached by the Tajik and Kyrgyz sides aimed at the early possible settlement of the current situation and prevention of its escalation.

The importance of resolving all the remaining issues specifically by means of negotiations and consultations in the spirit of friendship, good-neighborliness and partnership was emphasized.

The preparations for the forthcoming top-level visit to Tajikistan were also considered. The productive results of the working meeting between the Prime Ministers of our countries, which took place last week in the city of Khujand, were noted with satisfaction.

The importance of joint determination of new «growth areas» of full-scale cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan for a long term was emphasized.
