On April 27, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting to discuss the investment projects being implemented in free economic and small industrial zones.

The SIZ implemented 1,497 projects with a total cost of 5 trillion Uzbek soums and employed more than 36 thousand people.
However, the potential of these zones has not yet been fully realized. To use their capabilities, the President signed today a Decree «On measures for further development of the engineering and communication infrastructure of special economic and small industrial zones». According to the document, this year 1,600 trillion Uzbek soums will be allocated to develop the infrastructure of the FEZ and SIZ.
In particular, 584 billion Uzbek soums will be allocated for the construction of electricity, gas and water supply networks, sewerage and roads in 17 free economic zones, another 395 billion Uzbek soums will be allocated for the development of 145 small industrial zones.
It is planned to allocate 232 billion Uzbek soums to provide infrastructure for large investment projects. 264 billion Uzbek soums will be allocated for the accelerated development of industry and business at 33 backward areas.
The responsible persons have been instructed to establish strict control over the allocation and targeted use of these funds.
At the meeting, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the timely launch of projects is most important today.
This year, it is envisaged to implement 332 projects for $1,1 billion in the FEZ and 1,800 projects for 9,5 trillion Uzbek soums in the SIZ.
The officials reported on these projects, which will make an important contribution to the further development of industry in the country, the production of import-substituting and export-oriented products.
The meeting has considered proposals for the implementation of new promising projects in free economic and small industrial zones.
