On April 23, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the activities of the Electricity Metering Automation Center of the Joint Stock Company «Regional Electric Networks».
The electricity is one of the most essential sources for both the population and the economy. Its stable supply requires accurate calculations and modern technology. For this reason, the electronic meters are installed in every home, enterprise and institution. To date, more than 6,578 million consumers throughout the country have been provided with such equipment.
This innovation center was created to provide a modern customer service. The $20 million project was built in partnership with South Korean «KT Corporation» and launched in August 2020. The center is equipped with high-capacity servers that can serve 8 million subscribers and can be expanded to 20 million.
In addition, the small data centers have been created, connected to regional power supply enterprises.
All this contributes to the storage and processing of data at the district, city, regional and republican levels, the correct formation of hourly, daily, monthly and annual balances and, ultimately, accurate metering of electricity.
«Installing electronic meters is easy. This was the first step. The hardest part starts now. Are there enough professionals serving meters in the regions, in remote villages? Second, how resistant is the system to external influences? Third, is the factor of network obsolescence taken into account? We need to think about this now. It is necessary to direct a certain percentage of incomes for science and modernization», said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The instructions have been given to set up the service centers throughout the country for the automated system, as well as to set up centers for the training and retraining of specialists and to encourage workers in the field.
The electronic meters are connected to the billing system, debtor consumers are automatically disconnected from the network and reconnected after paying for electricity. This makes it possible to minimize the human factor, exclude cases of illegal connection and corruption. The center employs over 100 qualified specialists.
The President talked with them and got acquainted with the capabilities of the CAS program.
This system displays the load of all power plants, substations, transformers and the number of consumers connected to them using geolocation. The specialists attached to each region monitor the situation throughout the country online.
The information on the project for the implementation of an automated system for metering and controlling electricity consumption was presented.
The President also visited the situation room in the center.
By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated October 23, 2018 «On measures for accelerated development and ensuring financial stability of the electric power industry», the task was set to bring the coverage of subscribers with electronic meters to 100% by the end of 2021. The work in this direction continues. It is planned to connect a total of more than 7,418 million consumers to the automated control and metering system for electricity.
