President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the laboratory in vitro of the «Sag Agro» limited liability company in the Jambai District of the Samarkand Region.

For the innovative development of agriculture, the modern laboratories are being created in our country. The laboratory, with which the President got acquainted, is one of them.

A $2.6 million-project was launched in 2019. As a result, the seedlings of fruit and ornamental trees of foreign varieties were harvested.

Growing seedlings in the local conditions has two important effects. First, preventing the penetration and spread of various diseases through imported seedlings. Second, the seedlings grown in a local laboratory will be several times cheaper than foreign ones. For example, if an imported walnut seedling costs from 5 to 20 US dollars, domestic will cost 3-3,5 US dollars.

A laboratory of agro chemistry and soil science for study samples of soil, water and leaves has also been organized here. After studying the soil conditions of horticultural farms, the scientists will offer the most suitable seedlings.

24 hectares of land were allocated for the in vitro complex. A modern greenhouse has been created on 2 hectares. It is planned to build another greenhouse for 3 hectares. The fruit trees of 65 species, which do not grow in our country, will be grown at the remaining 18 hectares.

The annual production capacity of the laboratory allows growing from 15 million to 20 million crops and grafted seedlings. Currently, the seedlings of trees such as walnut, almonds, peach, cherry, apricot, pear and apple tree are harvested here.

«This is a revolutionary way of creating an added value. We have been striving for this for thirty years. It is necessary to continue to apply a scientific approach to increase efficiency», - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

This year it is planned to grow 2 million seedlings of fruit and ornamental trees. By the end of the year, 500 thousand walnut and almonds will also be harvested.

After reaching the full capacity in 2024, the laboratory will be possible to grow 20 million seedlings per year. From 2023 the seedlings are planned to be exported. This laboratory and greenhouse have created 140 new jobs.
