The free economic zone, established by Presidential Decree of January 12, 2017, plays an important role in the development of industry and the creation of new jobs in rural areas, effectively using the raw materials and infrastructure on the ground.
Today, 84 investment projects for more than $402 million are being implemented here. The production was launched for 55 projects for $313 million and 4,328 people are employed here. These enterprises produce 220 types of products – carpets, gas stoves, leather shoes, hygiene products, electrical engineering, and light industry products. In 2020, the goods for 1.2 trillion Uzbek soums were released and the export deliveries for $30 million were completed.
The President got acquainted with the work of the limited liability company «Kamalak Tekstil» and talked with employees. The enterprise, located on the Mergancha residential area of the Urgut District, produces woven and tufting carpets, carpet products, synthetic yarn and artificial lawn.
The company is equipped with modern energy-efficient equipment from Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, France and Germany. 328 jobs have been created here.
Last year, of the products for 170 billion sums, 59% were sold on the domestic market and 41% – were exported. This year it is planned to export products for $7.5 million.
The instructions were given to expand localization, organize similar enterprises in other areas and increase the number of jobs.
The President also visited the limited liability company «Sam Electro Service».
The company is able to produce 260 thousand electric ovens, 150 thousand gas stoves under the brand name «Ideal» and components for them in a year. The modern energy-efficient equipment from Germany, Turkey and China has been installed.
In 2020, 58 billion Uzbek soums worth of equipment was produced here, 32% of which was exported. This year goods for $2 million to be shipped abroad.
The importance of expanding the range of products, training specialists in the production and maintenance of modern electrical engineering was noted.
Today, at the Urgut FEZ construction and installation works carried out on 29 projects for $90 million, as the result of which, more than 2 thousand new jobs will be created.
In addition, 21 additional projects for $144 million were formed and 33 promising projects for $206 million are planned to implement.
The President has instructed the responsible persons to effectively use the potential of the economic zone and not to slow down the pace of implementation of projects.
