During the trip to the Samarkand Region in 2019, the President pointed out the need to expand the Imam Bukhariy Memorial Complex.

- This place should correspond to the scientific heritage of Imam Bukhariy, his high authority in the Islamic world. The complex is the epicenter of pilgrimage tourism in the country. There should be convenient conditions for all pilgrims, regardless of their numbers, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

A new project of the complex was developed. It was presented to the President several times and was finalized, and international experience was also studied.

In these days of the holy month of Ramadan, the construction work began. In this regard, a meeting was held with the elderly and intelligentsia.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated all Muslims and all the people of our country on the beginning of the month of Ramadan.

- Ramadan is the holy month when good intentions are fulfilled. Starting the construction of the complex this month, we believe that this gives us a good hope and consolation. The purpose of our efforts in this direction is to express through science our commitment to Islam and respect for our scientific ancestors. Being worthy of our ancestors is our big duty, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

It has been pointed out that due to the pandemic, in the past Ramadan believers held religious services at home. In addition, this year mosques are open and Muslims perform prayers in them under the quarantine rules. The support is provided to the elderly, the people with disabilities and low-income families. It was noted that such care was especially important in the current challenging situation, when the whole world was experiencing a severe crisis.

- Our sacred religion teaches us to be humane, live appreciating peace and tranquility, show compassion. With such understanding and vision, we are able to strengthen peace, friendship and harmony in every family and makhalla (the local community residential area), in all our society. I repeat, if there is peace and health, everything else will come, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The measures were also noted in terms of increasing employment, improve the well-being of the population and living conditions.

- During four years of search, transformation and testing we have gained a lot of experience. Our work to achieve the satisfaction of the people will be consistently continued. The noble ideas and sacred rites of Ramadan will become a solid basis for the realization of these good goals, - the President said.

The ayahs (the holy verses) of the Qur’an were read.

It is planned to erect a large mosque with four symmetrical minarets, terraces, and a broad alley will lead to the complex. To serve a large number of pilgrims, modern conditions will be created: 7 hotels, 3 parking lots and a bus station, a supermarket and a market will be built. The construction of the restaurants, an artisan store, a bathhouse, washing rooms and a slaughterhouse is also planned.

As you know, in 2019, on the initiative of the President, the Imam Bukhariy International Research Center and the Hadith Science School were created here. The Complex under construction together with these institutions will form a single large ensemble capable of meeting all the needs of pilgrims.
