On April 14, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation headed by the current Chairwoman-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden Ann Linde, who is in our country on a working visit.
During the meeting the topical issues of development of constructive interactions between our country and the OSCE, further expansion of the Uzbek-Swedish practical cooperation have been discussed. There was also an exchange of views on the regional and international agenda.
The President noted with satisfaction the modern level of productive dialogue with the OSCE and supported the key priority areas of Sweden's leadership in the Organization.
The intensification of contacts and exchanges in recent years was emphasized, including thanks to the active work of the Office of the Project Coordinator of this respected regional structure in our country.
During the conversation, the President has touched on the main directions of deepening the multifaceted partnership with the OSCE, primarily in preparation for important domestic political events in Uzbekistan.
The interest was expressed in continuing a meaningful dialogue with the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and the the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
An agreement was reached to organize a number of joint events in the near future.
Touching upon the prospects of bilateral relations with Sweden, the President of Uzbekistan highlighted as key areas of cooperation in the sphere of education, attracting innovations and investments of high-profile Swedish companies in our country, building up the trade and cooperative ties.
The confidence was expressed that the establishment of a diplomatic mission of Uzbekistan in Sweden would allow realizing the existing potential and wide opportunities for interactions between our countries and in general with the Scandinavian states.
The OSCE Chairwoman-in-Office, Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde expressed a sincere gratitude for a warm welcome and open conversation.
She has highly commended and supported the new stage of democratic transformation and socio-economic reforms in Uzbekistan, as well as the ongoing policy of strengthening relations of good-neighborliness, trust and partnerships in the Central Asian region.
Ann Linde has also thanked for the support of joint initiatives in the framework of the OSCE and the high priority attached to the development of practical cooperation with Sweden.
