On March 31, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take part in the informal summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (Turkic Council) via videoconference.
During the forthcoming summit, convened at the initiative of the Kazakh side, it is planned to discuss the issues of further expanding and strengthening the multifaceted relations within the Turkic Council.
It is expected that the Head of our State in his speech will outline the initiatives to build up the mutually beneficial cooperation between the states of the association in trade, economic, investment, transport, communication and cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The member states of the Council, established on October 3, 2009, are Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey. In addition, Hungary participates in the Turkic Council as an observer-state.
The Republic of Uzbekistan became a full-fledged member in 2019 and for the first time in this status took part in the Baku Summit of the organization, held on October 15 of that year.
The main objectives of the organization are strengthening the trust and ties among the Turkic-speaking countries, development of cooperation in trade, economy, transport, energy, tourism and cultural and humanitarian spheres, coordination of efforts to ensure peace and security in the region.
The supreme body of the Turkic Council is the Council of Heads of States. The standing executive body is the Secretariat, which is located in Istanbul.
In addition, the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic-Speaking States (TURKPA) and the Turkic Cultural Heritage Fund, the International Turkic Academy and the Business Council operate under the auspices of the CCTS.
