On March 6, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Republican boarding house for war and labor veterans and got acquainted with the living conditions as well as the treatment of the elderly.

The Head of State spoke to the veterans residing in the facility.

- I am very glad to come here and meet such esteemed people who have given so much effort and labor for the sake of Homeland. Taking this opportunity, I would like to congratulate our respected mothers and doctors on the upcoming holiday of the March 8, - Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The residents and staff of the boarding house expressed their gratitude to the President for the visit and the attention paid to the elder generation.

In the boarding house for war and labor veterans, 138 elderly people are taken under state’s care. The President gave instructions to the responsible persons on the construction of the new building in the boarding house for conducting cultural events, as well as the establishment of a park on 3 hectares of land, adjacent to the boarding house.

The heads of local executive authorities and social institutions of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and regions are also participated in the meeting via videoconference. The issues of improving conditions, medical and social services in the «Sakhovat» and «Muruvvat» boarding houses in the country have been discussed.

- We will hold today’s meeting in a different way. We will discuss the measures to improve not only this boarding house, but also all the 34 houses of «Sakhovat» and «Muruvvat» in the country. In total, there are 9,700 places in them, 8,840 elderly people are currently living and receiving treatment. However, no one has visited these houses, they were remembered only on holidays, there was no system. These people need love and care. That is our country will prosper with their blessings, - the President said.

It was emphasized that for this purpose it is necessary to transfer the Agency of Medical and Social Services at the Ministry of Health to the structure of the Cabinet of Ministers. An order was given to carry out construction and repair work in the facilities that are in a poor condition, modernize the medical equipment and establish modern physiotherapy departments.

- It is necessary to revise the previous standards, increase the provision of medicines to citizens living in these facilities, improve the quality of food and outsource cooking. It is also possible to affiliate the nearby hospitals and schools to visit the elderly. This is also attention, kindness. If we take more care of the sick, they will recover quickly, - Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The importance of providing each facility with a bus, organizing trips to landmarks and holy sites of the country, concert programs and social clubs was noted.

The Federation of Trade Unions was tasked with organizing once a year the rehabilitation of all residents of the «Sakhovat» boarding houses in the best sanatoriums of the country.

Noting the selfless work of the workers of the «Sakhovat» and «Muruvvat» boarding houses in caring for the care recipients, the President gave orders on increasing their wages.
