A festive event dedicated to March 8 – International Women’s Day is being held at the International Congress Centre in Tashkent.
The event is attended by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
At the beginning of his speech, the Head of State congratulated the women on the holiday, expressed his deep respect and most sincere wishes.
- For us, you are primarily the image of a mother, Motherland and family, a source of boundless love and tenderness, energy and inspiration, - Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The President emphasized the activity of women in all fields, especially their dedication to protecting the public health and educating children in the context of the pandemic.
Today, women make up 45% of the working population of our country. Their share in the administration system has reached 33%. About one and a half thousand women hold senior positions. In order to further increase this potential, a personnel reserve of more than 6 thousand active women has been formed.
The President also noted with pleasure the fact that 6 districts of the regions are headed by women.
It was noted that in order to ensure the rights and interests of women, to promote them, a vertical system is being created that reaches every makhalla (residential community area) and family. Over the past three months, the problems of 80 thousand women in need of social protection have been resolved and 32 thousand women have been provided with jobs.
More than 6 trillion Uzbek soums of loans have been allocated to almost 215 thousand families for the development of family entrepreneurship. About 22 billion Uzbek soums were allocated to 1,250 women for the payment of the initial payment for the purchase of housing.
The Head of State mentioned that today he signed another decree on material and social support for women. According to the document, 210 billion Uzbek soums will be allocated from the budget this year to provide housing for low-income women and girls raised by single mothers and another 211 billion Uzbek soums will be allocated to provide the homeless with social housing. Large funds will also be allocated for financial the assistance, medical treatment, vocational training and employment of women in need.
The speech of our President has become also a kind of appeal to our people, especially young men and women.
- Family is the source of love and happiness, a source of firm moral and spiritual values. Family happiness is the greatest happiness in the world. In this regard, I want to appeal to our young people: approach creating a family with great responsibility, as well as shaping your own destiny and the fate of your future children. This issue should not be taken lightly, ruining your own life and that of another person, - Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The President noted that in this matter he relies on the active body of the makhalla, representatives of the elder generation and the youth themselves.
As is known, on February 22 of this year, the head of state addressed at the UN Human Rights Council session, where he highlighted the need to radically increase the role of women in public and political life and entrepreneurship.
At the festive event, the President touched upon the issues of joint implementation of tasks in this area. He underlined the necessity to give high priority to the education of girls, prepare them for independent life, create conditions for acquiring the modern knowledge and skills by them, to the employment and taking a decent place in society.
