On February 22, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of investment projects that are planned to be implemented in the Navoiy region, as well as in the hydropower industry.
Navoiy region is one of the most industrialized regions. The annual volume of industrial production here is more than 65 trillion Uzbek soums. Among the «drivers» of the regional economy are mining, chemical industry, construction materials industry and textile production.
This year, it is planned to implement 576 projects in the Navoiy region with a total cost of 18 trillion 600 billion Uzbek soums. In the context of industries, projects are distributed as follows: 200 projects in the manufacturing, 179 projects in services and 197 projects in agriculture. As a result, production facilities for about 18 trillion Uzbek soums and 16 thousand jobs will be created. It is planned to launch the production of import-substituting products at the amount of $123 million, as well as exports for $125 million.
In particular, the production of acrylic stone, basalt panels, fibreboard, floor and wall panels, as well as glass products will be produced in the building materials industry. For example, in December this year it is planned to commission a glass enterprise in the city of Zarafshan, which will create 350 jobs.
20 projects have been developed for the chemical industry, 9 of which will be implemented this year. As a result, the production of new popular products will be established and more than 430 people will be employed.
Textile projects are also recognized as promising. In particular, this year it is planned to organize 28 enterprises in all districts and cities of the region, to create about 5,8 thousand jobs.
The Head of State gave instructions on high-quality and scientifically based implementation of projects, attraction of modern technologies, production of competitive products with high added value, including for export.
By the decree of the President of Uzbekistan dated May 2, 2017, the Program of Measures for the further development of hydropower for 2017-2021 was approved. The program includes 65 projects totaling about $3.4 billion, including 34 projects for the construction of new facilities and 31 projects for the modernization of existing facilities. To date, 12 projects at the 1.1 thousand MW have been launched. Another 20 projects at the 950 MW are at the final stage.
This year, it is planned to implement 16 projects worth $1.42 billion. In particular, 11 new hydroelectric power plant will be built with a total output of 587 MW of electricity. The remaining 5 projects provide the modernization of existing power plants with the increase in their capacity.
During the presentation, information was also provided on the ongoing work on the transformation of the industry.
The President instructed to re-examine all the projects and finalize them with an emphasis on quality.
