At the session of the People’s Deputies Kengash (Council), measures for the comprehensive development of the Namangan Region were addressed.
The head of state highlighted that the first important task is to increase employment and income of the population is reducing poverty. An instruction was given to allocate loans totaling 850 billion Uzbek soums for the development of entrepreneurship in the context of the makhalla (local residential neighborhood area).
It was reported about the allocation of $60 million from the Reconstruction and Development Fund to the region. $15 million from these funds will be allocated for the reconstruction of heat supply system of the city of Namangan, $10 million for the improvement of infrastructure of the old city part and improvement of the embankments, $10 million for the financing of driving projects in the makhallas, and $5 million for the development of lemon growing. For the development of domestic and pilgrimage tourism and the partial repayment of loans interest $5 million will be allocated for the Small-Sized and Youth Industrial Zones.
In 2021-2022, it is planned to implement 1,728 sectoral and regional investment projects in the regions, at the amount of 23 trillion 700 billion Uzbek soums. Through the implementation of these projects, it is planned to create more than 66 thousand work places.
- For the first time over last thirty years such amount of resources are being allocated to Namangan. If we manage them correctly and effectively, the region will develop faster, all districts will have industry and people will get job, - Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The importance of the development of agriculture and the diversification of cultivated crops was emphasized. The task is to provide employment for 200 thousand young people by allocating 17 thousand hectares of agricultural land, as well as 10 thousand women through the organization of cotton clusters of clothing enterprises in each district.
The responsible persons were instructed to create the Yangikurgan Potato Growing Center, jointly with Hungary – a research institute for potato growing.
Special attention is also paid to the development of social infrastructure. It was noted that this year 59 billion Uzbek soums from the budget and 100 billion Uzbek soums from the Reconstruction and Development Fund will be allocated for the construction of 160 kilometers of drinking water supply networks and 11 kilometers of sewer networks. As a result, another 167 thousand residents of the region will have access to drinking water.
President has had a separate conversation with youth, supported proposals and business projects spoken out by them. The responsible persons were provided with the appropriate instructions.
- When I see confidence in the future in the eyes of young people, my fatigue is completely relieved! Such an educated, energetic, active youth can make changes in all areas. We must create a wide range of conditions for it and provide all possible assistance, - the Head of State said.
