On February 2, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the leaders of the country’s political parties. In the open dialogue a thorough exchange of views took place on the issues of enhancing the role and place of parties in the social and political life of our society and the main tasks they face today.

It was noted the importance of political parties in the implementation of large-scale reforms in the life of the state and society, the protection of rights and interests of citizens.

A special attention is attached in our country to the integrated development of regions, social welfare and poverty reduction. Many programs on covering economic and social development issues are being implemented. Among the priorities identified are the development of entrepreneurship, ensuring employment of the population. Monitoring the progress of this work places a huge responsibility on the chambers of the Oliy Majlis and local Kengashes (Councils) of People’s Deputies.

A sole opinion was expressed that the parties should work more closely with their constituents, especially young people, women and the older generation, and promote their vital interests.

The participants discussed the need for each party to actively promote its program goals in the parliament, put forward legislative initiatives through its factions, and establish supervision over the enforcement of laws.

During the meeting, opinions and practical proposals were expressed on an in-depth analysis of the activities of political parties in the light of modern requirements, improving and raising the efficiency of their work.

The meeting was attended by the leaders of the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen – Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the Democratic Party «Milly Tiklanish», People’s Democratic Party, the Social Democratic Party «Adolat» and the Ecological Party, the leadership of the Senate and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
