On December 30, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov.
Warmly greeting each other, the leaders of the two countries exchanged New Year congratulations, wished our fraternal peoples peace, prosperity, happiness, success and affluence.
The consequences of the global crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic notwithstanding, it was noted with deep satisfaction, remarkable achievements have been made in the outgoing year in strengthening the Uzbek-Turkmen strategic partnership, itself built on robust bonds of centuries-old friendship, the principles of good neighborliness, mutual respect and trust, shared history, common cultural and spiritual values.
The heads of state reviewed joint plans to enhance multifaceted cooperation in 2021 as well as the schedule of forthcoming events within the framework of bilateral contacts and international institutions, primarily the United Nations.
The leaders agreed to build up cooperation between our two countries in trade, industry, agriculture and transport, and organize a rich program of business and cultural events next year.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov also discussed preparations for the next Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States in the coming year.
