Today, on 30 December, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
The heads of state exchanged heartfelt New Year congratulations, sincerely wishing peace, wellbeing and prosperity to the two fraternal peoples.
The conversation served to discuss topical issues on the bilateral and regional agenda, agree on priority tasks to consolidate the Uzbek-Tajik relations of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership.
Special attention was paid to cooperation towards ensuring stability and security, addressing modern challenges and threats.
Agreements were reached on building up practical interaction, including trade turnover increasing, promoting joint cooperation projects, enhancing ties among regions of the two countries, and expanding the cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
The Presidents reviewed the schedule of forthcoming bilateral and multilateral events. The leader of our country also wished his Tajik colleague a successful chairmanship in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in 2021.
