President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has arrived in Khorezm region and visited an innovative greenhouse complex in Khanka district.
The facility of the limited liability company Red Star Oxus was built for more than 205 billion soums and put into operation in February this year. At the first stage of the project, hydroponic cultivation of tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, bell peppers and greens was established on 7 hectares of hothouse.
The venue is made in line with innovative Ultra Clima construction scheme of the Dutch company KUBO. The advantage of this technology is that the warm air that rises upward is taken away by fans and supplied for heating through plastic sleeves located under each garden bed. This ensures high energy efficiency.
Today, the total area of this fifth-generation greenhouses around the world is only about 200 hectares. Of these, 7 hectares are in Uzbekistan.
Another advantage is that special lamps with radiation are installed over the beds, simulating sunlight and providing the effect of photosynthesis, which contributes to high yields. For example, tomatoes in traditional film greenhouses bear fruit for 6 months, yet in fifth-generation constructions the crop can be harvested during a year.
It was this feature that the head of state focused on during his familiarization with the innovation complex.
“Today, food security is becoming the most pressing issue in the world. The global market demands that agricultural products be supplied not seasonally, but all year round. An enterprise capable of this will occupy its own niche in the market. This type of greenhouse is a big source of employment and export of products,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev suggested.
The processes in this complex are fully automated. At the first phase, 75 people were provided with permanent job.
The President was provided with information on the plans of the enterprise. Thus, at the second stage of the project, another greenhouse with an area of 8 hectares will be built. It is planned to be commissioned next December with the creation of 150 more jobs.
“This enterprise is an economic driver. We should have such greenhouses grow in number, promote the interest among entrepreneurs and provide them with all possible assistance. This is the future of agriculture in Khorezm,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The head of our state insisted that a school for the exchange of experience and training for entrepreneurs be established on the basis of this complex.
“The first requirement for food products is quality. Therefore, each greenhouse should have its own laboratory, its own brand,” the President stressed.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been briefed here on projects due for implementation in agriculture. He gave instructions for the specialization of districts, the development of new lands, the introduction of sprinkler systems. The task has been set to ensure justice in the system of rice cultivation, to assign allotments to the population and hence provide people with jobs, and bring the poor out of poverty.
The President was also presented information on the results of sociological research and dialogue to enquire into the social mood of youth in the Khorezm region. The head of state urged the officials to fashion an annual program for the implementation of the plans, taking into account the aspirations and abilities of each and every youngster.
