On December 11, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov.
The head of our state congratulated his Turkmen colleague and the brotherly people on the 25th anniversary of the country’s neutrality, sincerely wishing peace, wellbeing, progress and prosperity.
The two Presidents then discussed topical issues in the bilateral cooperation and international affairs.
The leaders expressed deep satisfaction with the achieved high level and dynamics in the advancement of Uzbek-Turkmen relations of centuries-old friendship, neighborliness and strategic partnership.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov determined priorities for interaction in such key areas as trade, industrial cooperation, agriculture, energy, transport and transit, ties among the two countries’ regions and humanitarian programs.
The heads of state reached agreement on establishing new forms of practical cooperation and setting up an institution to conduct joint research in the field of combating the spread of coronavirus infection.
The sides noted the important role of the effective activity of joint Intergovernmental Commission and active interdepartmental dialogue in ensuring the unambiguous implementation of agreements at the highest level.
The two leaders also exchanged views on the current situation in the world, agreed to continue with the traditionally close contacts and mutual support within the framework of the United Nations institutions and other international organizations.
The Presidents discussed the prospects for regional cooperation as well as preparations for the forthcoming CIS summit.
The conversation took place in a traditionally warm and friendly spirit.
