President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on December 11.
The head of our state sincerely congratulated his Azerbaijani counterpart on the end of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, wishing peace and prosperity to the friendly people of the fraternal country. The two sides expressed hope for the enduring security and stability in the entire region of the South Caucasus.
The conversation served to discuss the current state and prospects of bilateral multifaceted relations.
The mutual support provided during the complicated period of the pandemic was noted with deep satisfaction, which once again demonstrated the centuries-old friendship and strategic nature of cooperation between our two nations.
The leaders highlighted the importance of active promotion of joint programs and projects aimed at increasing the trade turnover, enhancing the interaction between leading enterprises in manufacturing industry and agriculture, energy, transport and logistics, tourism and other spheres. The willingness to continue with intensive exchanges among the regions of the two countries as well as in the cultural and humanitarian field was confirmed.
At the end of the conversation, the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan agreed to maintain close dialogue within the framework of global and regional institutions.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Ilham Aliyev also deliberated on the schedule of forthcoming bilateral and multilateral events at the highest level.
