The Kuksaroy residence has played host to a ceremony of credentials presentation by newly appointed ambassadors of foreign countries.
Thus, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received credentials from Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary: Saeed Al-Qemzi of the United Arab Emirates, Hamid Nayyerabadi of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Nikolai Doroshenko of the Ukraine, Agostino Pinna of the Italian Republic, Zehavit Ben Hillel of the State of Israel, Syed Ali Asad Gilani of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and Manish Prabhat of the Republic of India.
The head of our state sincerely congratulated the ambassadors on the commencement of their diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan and wished them every success in their responsible and honorable assignment to further enhance bilateral cooperation.
Addressing the diplomats, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke about the current democratic reforms and socio-economic transformation in our country, including the program of anti-crisis measures to overcome the consequences of coronavirus pandemic.
The head of our state emphasized commitment to pursuing a constructive and pragmatic foreign policy based on the principles of mutual trust and respect, equality and consideration of interests, openness and good neighborliness.
Strengthening multifaceted ties and partnerships with Central Asian states, the Russian Federation, the People’s Republic of China, the United States of America, the countries of Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and South Asia was identified as a priority.
Meanwhile, important attention is paid to the promotion of economic diplomacy – cooperation in such key areas as trade and investment, high technology and innovation, digitalization, transport and logistics, the banking and financial sector.
In addition, the dynamic and fruitful interaction within the framework of international organizations and financial institutions was noted with satisfaction.
The President of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude to the leaders of states, who the newly appointed ambassadors represent, for supporting our nation’s membership in the Human Rights Council, one of the main platforms of the United Nations. This historic event is a testament to the broad international recognition of the country’s progress in the human rights sphere.
Addressing the diplomats, Shavkat Mirziyoyev outlined the main directions and prospects of bilateral relations with partners represented today by their ambassadors.
Thanks to regular contacts at the highest level, it was noted, the traditionally friendly and close relations with the United Arab Emirates have entered a fundamentally new stage.
Currently, joint investment projects exceeding $ 4 billion are in the active phase of implementation with the participation of Masdar, Mubadala, DP World, the Abu Dhabi Development Fund and other companies. Joint schemes cover alternative energy, infrastructure, chemical industry, agriculture, transport and logistics.
Programs are spearheaded to improve the public administration system as well as socially significant initiatives in the Aral Sea region.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that Uzbekistan is interested in using the great potential of cooperation with Iran.
The heads of two states pay great attention to the expansion of Uzbek-Iranian relations.
Issues of particular importance include the creation of favorable conditions for the growth of trade, realization of joint projects in manufacturing industry and agriculture, organization of cargo transportation through Iranian ports. In addition, regular dialogue is maintained in the security sphere.
Ukraine is our country’s traditional partner. The leader of Uzbekistan noted that in recent years the interaction has intensified. The volume of trade is growing, and important economic and humanitarian programs are being implemented.
In the meantime, there are prospects for further expansion of export-import operations, practical cooperation in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, pharmaceuticals, textile industry and agrarian complex, education and healthcare.
Wielding tremendous economic and cultural potential, Italy is one of our country’s main partners in the European Union.
As head of our state noted in his speech, it is necessary to deepen bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation, including in the format of ministerial meetings “Italy-Central Asia” and within the framework of international organizations.
In the trade and economic sphere, important cooperation projects are being carried out with leading Italian companies in metallurgy, agriculture, construction materials and other fields. In addition, a portfolio of promising joint projects worth about $ 5 billion is being prepared.
In the humanitarian field, important programs in higher education and cultural exchange are promoted.
Our country is closely linked with Israel by traditional partnership relations. The development of a constructive political dialogue, consolidation of trade, economic, investment, scientific and technical ties were named as priorities.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to strengthen cooperation in the field of high technologies, in the introduction of energy and resource saving solutions, agriculture, pharmaceuticals and medicine, education, tourism.
Achievement of these tasks will be served by holding regular high-level meetings and political consultations, as well as by launching bilateral Intergovernmental Commission.
The multilayered cooperation of Uzbekistan with Pakistan has been steadily developing. Today, the two countries also actively interact within the framework of international and regional organizations.
Fruitful results of the recent government delegation visit to Islamabad were noted with satisfaction. In accordance with agreements, new opportunities are being worked out to boost the volume of turnover, as well as in the field of agricultural machinery, textile and leather haberdashery.
Preparations are underway for essential transport and transit infrastructure projects that will effectively link Central and South Asia.
The President of Uzbekistan noted with delight the current level of Uzbek-Indian relations achieved in recent years thanks to regular contacts at the highest level.
The first meeting of the foreign ministers of India and Central Asian states in Samarkand last year was successful.
Despite the pandemic, trade is growing, intensive exchanges continue at the regional and business levels, priority projects in education, information and communication technologies, medicine and pharmaceuticals are being jointly promoted, with the attraction of Indian investments.
Concluding his address, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed conviction that the new ambassadors, with their dynamic and fruitful activities, would make a great contribution to strengthening friendship and developing multifaceted cooperation with Uzbekistan.
During conversation, the diplomats expressed their sincere gratitude to the head of our state for the warm welcome and assured that they would make every effort to achieve a qualitative breakthrough in the cooperation with Uzbekistan and fill the agenda of relations with new substance.
