President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has met with public figures of the Almazar district to discuss the prospects of the area. The event was also attended by senior government officials and representatives of the local older generation.
“This is our fourth trip to Almazar in the last three years. Whether there is transformation in the district, whether the life of people is changing for the better – these are the issues I am concerned about. Today we should analyze the results, consult with you and determine new directions and plans,” the President noted at the start of the meeting.
Issues related to poverty reduction, implementation of investment projects, creation of new jobs, improvement of living conditions were the key areas of discussion.
As a result of a home-by-home call-in tour in Almazar, a total of 3,023 needy families were identified. Members of 568 such families got employed and thus have been removed from the register of poor.
At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister responsible for this work reported on the forthcoming efforts to take out the remaining 2,455 families from the poverty list by the end of the year.
This year, 48 investment projects worth 3 trillion soums are to be launched in the district. Project proposals were presented for the creation of new enterprises on the basis of 12 unused public facilities and 97 previously privatized but empty buildings and lands.
In order to make a better use of reserves for new projects, the head of state proposed to allocate 200 hectares of land in the Tashkent district bordering the capital’s Almazar district and organize a new industrial zone. At prospective enterprises of the industrial zone, at least 60 thousand new jobs will be possible to be created.
On an area of 482 hectares that includes the Chorsu Market, Zarkaynar, Sagbon, Sebzor, Karasaray, Guzalbog and other streets and mahallas, a modern tourist, commercial and entertainment space – an open-air museum – is expected to be established. Craftsmen’s workshops and retail stores, teahouses, hotels, small museums are said to be set up there.
The President instructed relevant executives to relocate the Aggregate Plant to Tashkent region’s Chirchik, and use its premises in Almazar to erect affordable housing, namely, 12, 14, and 16-storey apartment blocks. Shavkat Mirziyoyev also suggested that a satellite town be created in the bordering Tashkent district, on an area of 260 hectares next to the Almazar district, for 150 thousand inhabitants.
Members of the public present at the meeting expressed their views and proposals on the priorities of work in the district.
