A year ago, on 24 May 2019, while on a work trip across Tashkent, at the National University of Uzbekistan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with scientists and representatives of the higher education system of the country. He drew special attention to issues of improving the living and working conditions of academia and teachers, and instructed inter alia to build apartment blocks for them.
Thus, six nine-storey houses with 216 fully furnished flats have been erected in the Student Village in northwestern Tashkent. Apart from modern amenities inside, the houses host children’s and sports grounds, parking lots in the yard.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the condition of apartments, talked with their owners.
“I congratulate you and in your person all the families who have moved in here! What a cozy, modern housing! I myself come from a province, as you know, and as a person who has lived in a rented apartment for 15 years, I realize very well the value of having your own shelter. We used to demand result from scientists and teachers, showing no interest in their living conditions. The time has come to look into your expectations. Academia are the gold pool of our nation. Our children, our future, are brought up in their hands. When educators have a home of their own and are content for their family, they work with love for their profession and devotion to their native land. May you live happily in these houses. May your kids and grandchildren know that their parents were not mistaken in choosing science as profession,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
