The working trip of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Ferghana region continues.
In the regional center, the head of our state chaired a meeting with hokims of the province and districts, chiefs of spheres and industries as well as members of the wider public.
The President noted that he had come to the region to speak candidly with the people about the pressing issues of their concern, to address problems together.
“It will be right if I am brief and you speak more. No praise. I already have the greatest praise, the trust of the people. We are still taking the first steps. It is easy to come and applaud. But it is useless. I try to go to distant districts because I want to feel the living conditions first-hand, take concrete measures, find answers to questions about whether reforms work in remote areas, whether local executives work in good faith, selflessly. Such meetings do not happen every day. Therefore, please be resolute and raise the most sensitive of issues,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev assured those gathered in the hall.
The head of state expounded on the events in Sokh district that took place last week. He said in particular thus:
“In recent years, we have managed to solve a range of tricky issues on the border with neighboring nations. The events in Sokh should not affect our friendship with the Kyrgyz people, our mutual trips and general plans. We need to be calm, patient, compassionate. Neighborhood is for thousands of years. Our peoples should live side by side and respect each other.”
Led by the Prime Minister, the Government Commission has examined the problems in the exclave and worked out a complex of proposals. 500 billion soums is expected to be assigned for the comprehensive development of the Sokh district in 2020-2022. A total of 11 thousand new jobs are planned to be created.
98 projects will be implemented in general, and industry, agriculture as well as services sector will be promoted in particular.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev declared that individuals will be exempt from land tax and property tax, and the income tax rate for individual entrepreneurs will be cut by half. Water supply will be improved on a thousand hectares of cultivated land.
The departments of the district medical association, the infectious diseases hospital and the central hospital will be provided with specialized equipment and reanimobiles, it was noted at the meeting. Schools, rural medical centers, roads and social facilities are to be repaired.
In the 2020/2021 academic year, the Sokh youth will be allocated an additional 500 government scholarships for studying in higher educational institutions of the Ferghana Valley.
