On May 17, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The head of our state congratulated his colleague on his birthday and wished him robust health, wellbeing and every success, as well as peace and prosperity to the fraternal people of Kazakhstan.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev expressed particular satisfaction with the established effective interaction and ongoing practical work towards the elimination of consequences of the Sardoba Reservoir disaster, along with the minimization of negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic on bilateral trade and economic ties.
The Presidents emphasized the importance of continuing close cooperation to overcome new challenges and common threats.
The conversation served to discuss topical issues on the agenda of the Uzbek-Kazakh relations.
The parties highlighted the need to intensify the activities of institutional mechanisms of dialogue and bolster joint efforts aimed at securing the growth in mutual trade and investments, promoting promising areas and cooperation projects in industries, agriculture, transport communications and logistics, as well as other priority areas.
The heads of state also exchanged views on a number of issues in international politics.
In conclusion, the sides reaffirmed their commitment to the consolidation of the relations of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership between the two fraternal nations.
The telephone talk took place in a traditionally warm and friendly spirit.
