Today, on May 8, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko held a telephone conversation.
The heads of state exchanged cordial congratulations and warm wishes on the upcoming holiday – the 75th anniversary of Victory over Nazism. The invaluable contribution of our two fraternal peoples to the achievement of the Great Victory was noted in particular.
The conversation served for the two parties to examine the current state and prospects of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Belarus.
The Presidents noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics observed in recent years in the development of bilateral trade relations, in the industrial cooperation across economic sectors. In addition, the intensification of contacts among the two countries’ regions and business circles, as well as cultural, humanitarian and educational exchanges were highlighted.
The leaders agreed that regular meetings within the framework of the joint Intergovernmental Commission be continued, including in the form of video conferences, with a view to practical implementation of deals and promotion of new areas of partnership.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Alexander Lukashenko discussed situation around the pandemic in the two countries and instructed the involved ministries and agencies to ensure close coordination and interaction in containing the coronavirus.
The heads of state swapped views on a number of topical issues in international politics and regional affairs. Important attention was paid to the implementation of joint multilateral events and programs within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The conversation took place in the traditionally warm and friendly spirit.
