President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev continues to be in the Syrdarya region in connection with the emergency situation in the area.
The head of state, following his two-day stay on the site of the crisis, arrived this evening in the city of Gulistan, Syrdarya region’s administrative center, and chaired a meeting with senior officials, including those of law enforcement agencies, as well as members of the wider public.
The session sought to comprehensively analyze the sudden breakthrough of the dam of the Sardoba Reservoir and its consequences, and draw ensuing conclusions.
The participants discussed pressing issues related to the protection of population health, material and moral support, restoration of social facilities and agricultural land, and identified required measures.
Today, the attention of the whole nation is concentrated on eliminating the consequences of the disaster in Sardoba district, and citizens affected by the flood have been receiving generous material assistance and moral support. In a show of solidarity amid the crisis, humanitarian aid has been flowing to Syrdarya from all regions of the country in the form of food, warm clothing and other essential goods.
