At a meeting in Urgench, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev identified important areas for the development of the Khorezm region.

Thus, within the next three years, a total of 2,736 investment projects worth 24 trillion soums are to be implemented in the region and over 50 thousand jobs be created.

New projects will be implemented in particular at the automobile plant in the Hazorasp district to increase the localization level of Damas and Labo micro-vans up to 65 percent (currently at 27 and 14 percent, respectively).

In addition, new schemes to be devised will include those to bring the cotton processing level to 100 percent next year, and to raise the level of yarn processing from the current 35 to 70 percent within the next three years.

The plans include the construction of a chemical plant with an annual capacity of 63 thousand tons of caustic soda and chlorine, with the attraction of 250 million US dollars of investments from Malaysia.

Objectives were set for the rational use of water, for the organization of fruit and vegetable clusters, creation of a brand for Khorezm melons, and the expansion of the cultivation and exports of this product.

The President urged the officials to launch a tourist zone along the Shavat Canal, and create “Khorezm Khans Village” in Khiva.

In order to promote national arts and attract tourists from abroad, the head of state proposed to hold international lazgi dance festival in Khorezm. The meeting participants supported the initiative with warm applause.
