President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has spoken today with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov by the phone.
At the start of the conversation, the head of our state expressed gratitude to the fraternal Turkmen people for the hospitality shown during the summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Ashgabat on October 10-11 this year, and renewed congratulations to Turkmenistan on the latter’s successful chairmanship in the CIS.
The two leaders discussed the current state and prospects of the multilayered Uzbek-Turkmen relations, and exchanged views on pressing issues of international and regional politics in the context of forthcoming events at the highest level.
The time-tested robust bonds of friendship and good neighborliness, it was underscored, constitute a solid foundation for the enhancement of the mutually advancement cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, primarily in the areas of trade, transport, agriculture, energy and other sectors.
Willingness was expressed to continue to actively promote the expansion of contacts among the two countries’ regions and cultural-humanitarian exchanges.
The heads of state reaffirmed their shared commitment to the further consolidation of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan for the sustainable development and prosperity of our friendly nations and the entire Central Asia.
