President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has got acquainted with the project for the construction of a mining and metallurgical complex on the basis of Tebinbulak deposit in Karakalpakstan’s Karauzyak district.
The crude reserve of the field is projected at 1.1 billion tons. According to preliminary estimates, it is planned to mine 33 million tons of ore a year and extract 1.5 million tons of iron from it.
Measures for the implementation of this investment project were outlined in a presidential resolution on 12 January 2018.
The mining and metallurgical complex is expected to wield annual production capacity of 900 thousand tons of fittings, 225 thousand tons of wire, 375 thousand tons of corners, channels and other materials. This project realization is anticipated to contribute to the replacement of a significant volume of imports and galvanize sustainable development of industry. The venue is said to potentially provide job for more than 2 thousand people. 35 percent of goods are intended for export.
The German DMT-Group Consulting and Austria-based Horst Wiesinger Consulting have been engaged in the elaboration and implementation of the project.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev talked with specialists from these companies and noted the need to apply cutting-edge scientific achievements in the construction of the complex. Uzbekistan’s leader suggested also that a scientific and practical school be set up in iron production.
The head of our state recommended to carry out a deeply thought-out feasibility study for the project, and attract young people by and large to its implementation.
