President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation on August 2 with President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
From the start of the talk, the head of our state expressed sincere gratitude to the leader and the fraternal people of Belarus for the warm and cordial reception during the successful first official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Belarus that has taken place these days.
The two Presidents noted with deep satisfaction that the Uzbek-Belarusian summit meeting raised the multifaceted bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level, filling them with practical substance.
In particular, the fruitful joint Forum of Regions and the National Industrial Exhibition of Uzbekistan in Minsk were highly appreciated, as a result of which 300 million-dollar worth export-import contracts and agreements on cooperation of leading enterprises were concluded.
The heads of state emphasized the importance of continuing active exchange in the fields of science, education, culture and arts.
It was noted that the Uzbekistan Culture Days organized in the framework of the visit and the opening of a bust to the great Uzbek poet and thinker Alisher Navoi in the Belarusian capital Minsk helped to strengthen friendship relations and enhance mutual understanding between our two peoples.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Alexander Lukashenko discussed during the telephone conversation the priority measures aimed at the practical implementation of the agreements and adopted documents on the basis of a roadmap.
Particular attention is paid to buttressing the cooperation in the trade, economic, investment and innovation fields. It includes in particular the promotion of joint projects and cooperation programs in various sectors of the economy building on the advanced technologies and knowledge of Belarusian enterprises.
Toward the end of the talk over the phone, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited again President Alexander Lukashenko to pay an official visit to our country at a time convenient for him.
The heads of state reaffirmed their commitment to furthering the comprehensive cooperation and cementing the friendship relations between Uzbekistan and Belarus.
