On May 24, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the University Town in the capital Tashkent to get a view of the creative and construction works in progress.
The venue is a major center of education and science in our country. The Town is home to the Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov Tashkent State Technical University, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, the Ministry of Innovation Development, the Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment, colleges and lyceums, sports complexes. About 25 thousand students attend these two universities.
At the initiative of the head of our state, Beruni Square has been set up in the territory of the Town, next to the Beruni metro station. The Abu Rayhon Beruni monument was moved here from the Technical University. The memorial boasts installed plates with information about the outstanding legacy of the great scientist. All this has formed a unique complex, which came to be another symbol of the University Town as a center of research.
The President got acquainted with the complex.
It is worth reminding that during his trip to the Town on 2 December 2017, Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave directives to erect a new building for the Ministry of Innovation Development.
To this end, the construction of a modern five-story building is currently in full swing. The edifice is expected to house research to identify the needs of industries in innovation; services will be provided to support innovative ideas of young people and organize distance learning. Exhibitions of latest inventions and technologies as well as start-up projects are to facilitate the formation of research skills among young people.
On its ground floor, the building will host a library, an amphitheater, a hall, an exhibition space. On the upper floors, there will be coworking and startup zones, internet labs, conference rooms. Aerospace laboratory, workshop, advertising agency are also scheduled to be set up here.
“Our decision to relocate the ministry here in this Town was not accidental. Thousands of talented young people, research fellows, and scientists work and study in universities here. It is essential to attract and support them, come up with innovation in each area. In this regard, the Ministry of Innovation Development should act as a scientific core, a base station,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev insisted.
The President was offered presentation of an innovation technopark being built together with the ministry.
To deliver the required infrastructure for the spheres of information and communication technologies and education, the National Association for Process Automation (NAPA) was established. In cooperation with the Ministry of Innovation, the Association is contemplating an investment project for the creation of a NAPA technology park.
The new technopark is expected to offer modern conditions for the creation and transfer of new developments, stimulate the ideas of young people and bring experienced specialists in the field of information technologies to our country.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev urged officials to secure cutting-edge material and technical base in the technopark, as well as modern training and support for the personnel.
