On December 27, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
The Heads of the states exchanged sincere congratulations on the upcoming New Year, as well as discussed a number of current issues of interaction.
Presidents expressed deep satisfaction with dynamic development and consistent strengthening of Uzbekistan – Russia friendship, strategic partnership and alliance.
It was emphasized that the state visit of the President of the Russian Federation to Uzbekistan in October this year brought bilateral cooperation to a qualitatively new level, filling it with concrete practical content.
Intensive and productive contacts at all levels were noted, the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation is operating effectively.
Dialogue at the level of regions and business has been intensified, cultural-humanitarian exchanges expanded. This fall, the first interregional and educational forums have been successfully held in Tashkent.
The trade turnover is growing, the green corridor is launched in supplying agricultural products.
Large investment projects are being implemented in Uzbekistan with participation of leading Russian companies and banks, including in the energy, oil and gas, chemical, mechanical engineering, electrical, textile, food and many other industries.
In April, Kandym Gas Processing Complex was commissioned. In October, construction of the first Nuclear Power Plant in Uzbekistan was launched.
Joint programs are being implemented in science, education and health, including the opening of branches of leading Russian universities in Uzbekistan.
In conclusion, the Presidents emphasized their commitment to further development and strengthening of strategic partnership and alliance, as well as exchanged wishes for peace, wellbeing and prosperity for people of Uzbekistan and Russia in the New Year.
