President Shavkat Mirziyoyev had visited the construction site of the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan on June 15 this year and laid a symbolic cornerstone for the foundation. At present, the building frame of the center has been raised, construction work continues actively.
The Head of the state pays special attention to the revival of the national-religious values of our people, promoting the enormous contribution of our great ancestors to the development of Islam.
One of the initiatives in this sphere – the resolution “Enlightenment and Religious Tolerance” was adopted at the plenary session of the UN General Assembly on December 12 with the support of all countries.
The Center of Islamic Civilization will serve to studying the rich heritage of great ancestors who have made a significant contribution to the development of human civilization, bringing the truly humanistic essence of Islam to our people, the international community, affirming the principle of “enlightenment against ignorance” in society.
The three-storey building of the center will be erected in the architectural style inherent in the ancient madrasah. The Quran of Usman will be located in the symmetrical center of the building. A library, a conference hall and an exhibition hall will be on the second floor. The third floor will include an information resource center, academic departments and others.
The President got acquainted with the construction process. He noted that there should be expositions divided by periods of the history of Uzbekistan in the exhibition hall, including sources and objects for each century, each scientist.
– Everybody has a precious past. But there is no such a rich history as in our country, such great scientists as our ancestors. We must deeply study this heritage, disclose it to people, the world. It is necessary to achieve that the person who would visit the center had a complete picture of our history, got spiritually enriched, – said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The Head of the state gave instructions on improving the design and equipment of the center.
