President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of programs and projects aimed at development of the agrarian sector in Andijan region in 2018-2019. 

The Head of the state last year gave instruction on commissioning the Andijan branch of the Forestry Scientific Research Institute. The branch has already started its activity, its researchers have developed a number of promising projects on development of forestry in the region. In 2016, agricultural products were harvested on 8 hectares of forest fund land, and in the current and next years, this area will expand to 830 hectares. It is planned to create many permanent and seasonal jobs in the foothill areas. 

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted the necessity of applying innovative ideas in forestry, creating a special fund for expanding the variety of crops and increasing the yield.

"There are many unused opportunities in forestry. For example, such popular products as pistachios, nuts, chickpeas, beans, saffron, rose hips and other medicinal plants can bring huge income! You can also harvest honey. We need only a scientific approach, commitment and effort. Over time, forestry should become a separate large-scale industry," the President said.

Attention was paid to development of fish farming in the region. This year, it is planned to create new reservoirs in 11 districts, to establish the harvesting of fish by Chinese and Vietnamese technology.

Presentation of projects on development of poultry, livestock, harvesting nuts, export of vegetables was held. The President gave necessary instructions to entrepreneurs and responsible persons.
