On May 24, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting to discuss the expansion of oil and gas extraction and production of goods.

The National Development Strategy of Uzbekistan defines the objectives for liberalization of the economy and transformation of the leading industries. In particular, the transformation processes have begun in the oil and gas sector.

At the meeting, the President drew attention to the issues of transformation and has underscored the importance of intensifying this process.

The tasks of attracting international consultants, defining strategic approaches and ensuring transparency of accounting mechanisms in the oil and gas industry were set.

The measures to improve the financial situation of enterprises, reduce expenses owing to the enhancement of operational efficiency and create a management system based on the best international practices have been defined.

The President gave the specific instructions to the heads of the industry to ensure a regular supply the population and enterprises with fuel and energy resources.

The measures to eliminate losses with the complete introduction of an automated natural gas metering control system have been defined. The importance of saving resources and encouraging the use of alternative energy sources was pointed out.
